We will pick three organizations for our Special Plate Collections.

This ballot is your opportunity to select THREE organizations to support in Feb, March, April 2021.  We ask that you choose ONE organization in each category. The top one organization in each category with the most votes will be named recipients. We know that this can be a difficult decision as we agree that all of the programs are worthy causes.

All groups are registered nonprofit organizations.

ANTI-RACIST / ANTI-OPPRESSION

__X__ GREATER READING IMMIGRATION PROJECT (GRIP) is a coalition of community volunteers working to raise awareness about immigration issues in Berks County through education, communication and advocacy.  Our primary focus is to educate the community on the issues facing local youth and their families as they seek to continue their education, research possible paths to citizenship and safely become productive, contributing members of the community. Our donation will contribute to the scholarship to help undocumented college students (because they cannot not qualify for student aid or loans). https://www.readinggrip.org/grip-dreamer-scholarship-fund/


____ CENTRO HISPANO: Centro Hispano has a shared vision for real change. Their mission is to support
and enhance the acculturation of the Latino population in the Greater Reading area through
collaborative initiatives designed to enable individuals to improve their quality of life and the quality of

__X__Berks Coalition to End Homelessness was selected

____ BLANKETS OF HOPE: This winter, over 500,000 Americans will be alone, homeless, and freezing cold. Blankets of Hope is a 501(c)3 organization created to fulfill a simple need - provide a blanket to someone needing a little warmth, and a little love. But it’s about so much more than a blanket - it’s about human connection. ____ HOPE RESCUE MISSION: Since 1894, Hope Rescue Mission has been a place of refuge for the homeless men of Berks County, PA. They offer residential programs wherein men can work their way through to transition back into the community as productive and independent individuals. https://www.hopeforreading.org.

__X__ GSA at Reading High was awarded

_____PROSPECTUS BERCO - They increase opportunities for adults with intellectual disabilities and special needs 1) to reside in community homes throughout Berks County staffed with support and a family atmosphere (approx. 90 adults), 2) to partake in community activities via Adult Training Program at 840 William Lane with eight classrooms and at 1800 Kutztown Road with four classrooms, 3) to receive employment readiness and vocational support at on-site contracted work and off-site paid positions in local businesses (100 adults).  https://proberco.org/serv-residential/

opportunity to lesbian, gay, transgender people. They are committed to the core principles of fairness,

We are an invaluable force in empowering children, teens and adults to explore, learn, and thrive through access to information. _____ MURRAY GROVE (Potter/Murray meeting site): Mission Statement: To provide a sustainable
center for retreat and renewal of spirit, mind, and body and the preservation of Unitarian Universalist
history and heritage through educational opportunities, the arts, and prophetic outreach. Although this
is not a local organization it has supported the FUUCBC for the past four years by donating a two-night
stay for our annual auction. A few years ago the TPUC elected to cut back on Murray Grove’s funding
request by 2/3 to offer support for a special grant to replace our (FUUCBC) Chalice House boiler.
